About CrimsonCup

CrimsonCup® Coffee & Tea was established in 1991 in Columbus, Ohio by Greg Ubert with a simple goal in mind: roast and supply coffee shop businesses with The World’s Best Coffee. About a year after the new company was up and running, Greg had what some people call a “defining moment”.

He visited a new coffee shop in The Ohio State University student union with the hopes of selling the operator, a man named Armando Escobar, on serving CrimsonCup. Greg counted 20 customers waiting in line to be served. He watched in amazement as Armando, with the help of only one employee, served specialty coffee drinks to all 20 customers in only five minutes.

Greg learned that, in addition to great coffee, operating a successful coffee shop business depends on efficiency in setup, barista training, customer service, marketing, and something Armando called “The Dance”. Greg hired Armando, CrimsonCup’s CEO - Chief Espresso Officer, and spent the next eight years documenting what works and does not work in the operation of a profitable coffee shop business. He put it all in a book called the “Seven Steps to Success”.

In addition to understanding coffee shop efficiencies, Armando’s coffee experience led to the creation of CrimsonCup’s signature coffee, Armando’sTM Blend.  Much like a master chef blends ingredients to maximize flavor, Armando’sTM Blend required three coffee people (Greg, Armando, Chris) and seven months to create a taste that excites coffee lovers from around the world.

CrimsonCup roasts and distributes The World’s Best Coffee & Tea and teaches businesses how to be successful in specialty coffee.  The company purchases only the top 5% of coffees grown in the world and supplies more than 350 coffee shops, colleges and universities, grocers and food service operations throughout 26 states.  CrimsonCup recently opened its own CrimsonCup coffee shop in Clintonville, Ohio.

Fresh roasted CrimsonCup coffee is available in grocery stores, such as Hill’s Market in Worthington and Touch of Earth in the North Market for you to brew at home or order online at www.crimsoncup.com.
